Our journey to become a leading non-confrontational family law practice

At Belderbos Family Law we're aiming to be an important cog in the movement to promote a constructive approach to the family justice system. Our journey begins with a simple yet powerful belief: family matters are best resolved through understanding and cooperation, not conflict. Our team of dedicated solicitors are instrumental in practising a more compassionate, client-focused approach to family law.

We don’t just promote this approach publicly, it’s heavily ingrained in every aspect of the way we do business.
We are actively involved with Resolution, both at committee level and with our team attending conferences. We constantly explore new ways to remove conflict wherever possible and are active advocates of the one couple, one lawyer approach.

Our mission

"Empowering families, fostering peace - our drive towards non-confrontational resolution.

We aim to minimise the emotional stress that often comes with family law cases by actively exploring mediation and negotiation as the first line of action.

How are Belderbos Solicitors developing as a business?

It’s exciting times for us.

We are in the process of opening a new office in Leicester where we plan to grow quickly in the next few years. We have a well-established office in a delightful location in the lovely town of Oakham where we are expanding rapidly, based on our reputation for finding the right solutions for our clients.

We will remain a niche family law practice, and plan to expand at a rate based largely on attracting the right people with a positive, can-do attitude and a yearn to learn and improve.

You will join a practice where you will be setting the limits to how much you want to achieve, whether it’s to just do a great job, or whether you want to build a successful career.

What vacancies exist at present

We’re looking for a qualified solicitor, to start later in 2025 obviously with experience of family law. We’re also in need of a paralegal, whether you want to progress further in your qualifications, or stay as a paralegal and do a great job.

You’ll probably have realised by now we’re looking for the right people skills and attitude as much as the right professional skills.

How to apply or just explore our opportunities

You can either get in touch by sending your CV and a covering note. Or if you like what you’ve read about us and you just want to make a speculative enquiry, that’s fine, you can call and book a confidential call with James, our founder or contact him via LinkedIn. In an informal chat you can discover whether you’d like to take your interest further. We’ll be as discrete as you need us to be.

Inclusive and supportive culture

Our commitment to the Resolution Code of Practice reflects our dedication to high standards and ethical practice in family law. You'll be joining a team that values openness to learning and development, fostering a culture of mutual respect and support.

Our staff say...

From a member of the team

Family Solicitor

I previously worked as a family lawyer in a mid-size full-service law firm but left to join Belderbos Solicitors which is a niche family law practice.

I did this for a number of reasons but mostly because I’ve always strongly believed that there must be better ways to resolve family disputes following relationship breakdown than going to Court, and this firm believes that too. I also wanted to train as a mediator which was actively encouraged and which I’ve now achieved.

Belderbos Solicitors is committed to dispute resolution outside Court proceedings, wherever possible. Of course, sometimes it’s necessary to make an application to Court in an emergency situation, or where all else has failed, but the process can be brutal and can take a long time and be very expensive.

At Belderbos Solicitors, we acknowledge that relationship breakdown can be traumatic for all those involved, particularly children, so we try to take a holistic approach. We are client focused and may suggest a dispute is settled through alternative approaches such as mediation, collaborative law, or early neutral evaluation. We may also direct clients to additional non-law resources such as counselling or a divorce coach.

Ultimately, we try to take some of the ‘stuffiness’ out of law, and make it more human.
