Why The Government Is Helping Those Facing Family Disputes By Paying £500 Towards Mediation Costs.

The Ministry of Justice who runs the courts in England and Wales are under considerable pressure to keep disputes out of court because of the considerable backlog in cases. Some families are experiencing delays of six months before their cases are listed.

We believe Mediation is a better way for families to resolve disputes. It is quicker and often cheaper. There are many other advantages that make it a better way for families to achieve resolution.

Early advice is essential to understand all your options and to avoid making applications to court which are stressful and costly. Our advice is wherever possible try to keep your case out of court.

Belderbos Solicitors are registered participants in the Ministry of Justice funded Mediation Voucher Scheme. This means that we can apply on behalf of our mediation clients for a contribution of up to £500.00 towards mediation costs. The success of the scheme is recognised by the government, and we are delighted to report that the Ministry of Justice has decided to continue to fund the scheme for a little longer.

The process will be fully explained to our mediation clients at their first meeting called a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting. The voucher does not cover the cost of the first meeting. There are reasons why the government are not funding this.
