Sophie Ball

Family Solicitor

Professional Overview

Sophie is a family law specialist advising on divorce, financial matters, arrangements for children, separation and TOLATA disputes. She works closely with clients at what is often one of the most uncertain periods of their lives, providing steady guidance and clear, thoughtful advice from the outset.

Approachable and down to earth, Sophie prioritises making clients feel comfortable and supported from the very first meeting. She believes that reassurance, consistency and open communication are central to achieving good outcomes. Matters are always approached constructively and proportionately. Where resolution can be achieved through negotiation or other non-court processes, this will be pursued carefully and strategically. Where circumstances require firmer action, she will advise accordingly.

Sophie is committed to helping each client find the right way forward for their family, ensuring that decisions are made calmly, with care and with a clear understanding of the long-term picture.

Areas of Practice

Sophie advises on divorce and separation, financial remedy proceedings, arrangements for children and disputes concerning property ownership between unmarried couples. She approaches each case individually, assessing at an early stage whether a negotiated resolution is achievable or whether court proceedings are necessary to protect her client’s position and provide structure.

Experience and Background

Sophie holds a First Class Law Degree (LLB) and completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice before qualifying as a solicitor in October 2022. She joined the firm in 2019 as a Paralegal and later undertook her Training Contract within the practice. Having worked alongside James throughout her career, she has developed her expertise exclusively within family law and has been practising in this area for almost seven years.

She is a member of Resolution and the Law Society, reflecting her commitment to constructive, child-focused practice while maintaining a clear understanding that some situations require decisive court involvement. Her experience allows her to guide clients carefully through each stage of the process, ensuring continuity and clarity from start to finish.

Outside the Office

Sophie is a keen sports fan and holds a season ticket for Leicester Tigers, as well as supporting Leicester City Football Club. She also enjoys reading and can often be found with a book in hand, particularly while on holiday.
